Forget Tuscany – Head to the Amalfi Coast

When most people dream of vacationing in Italy they imagine themselves in a villa in Tuscany. After all, who has heard of Positano? But take a look at this villa on the Amalfi Coast – perhaps this will be your new dream destination in Italy.

Villa Oliviero is perched on the hills above the town of Positano on the Amlfi Coast. The villa has six double bedrooms. In the Garden Room there is a double sofa bed too. Total sleeping capacity is 14.  Positano is arguably the most picturesque town on the whole of Italy’s legendary Amalfi Coast. The villa was built on a rocky spur in the highest part of the town which, with its spectacular views, has, for centuries, inspired intellectuals and artists.

“Positano bites deep,” wrote John Steinbeck. “It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”

From June 4th to September 10th the villa is available for exclusive weekly rent, for a minimum of 1 week, from Saturday to Saturday. In other periods of the year, the entire villa (or individual rooms in the villa) can be rented for a minimum of 2 days. And they have a special on for November – 149 Euros per night for a minimum 2 night stay.

In early autumn and in the spring you can use the outdoor pool. The heated Jacuzzi and Turkish bath  can be used all year round.  You’ll be looked after by a cleaner, a butler and a housekeeper.  the services of a local cook are always available. You can order from the à la carte menu in the villa at any time.

Villa Oliviero is just 90 steps away from the main road, where the town center begins and Positano’s restaurants and shops are located. The beach is a 10 minute walk away.

The mild climate of the Amalfi Coast makes swimming in the sea a valid option from mid April until the first days of November. Even in January, in the heart of winter, you can experience lovely sunny days that might tempt you to take a dip.

Positano has been featured in several films, including Only You (1994), and Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), as well as being mentioned in the 2009 musical film Nine in the song “Cinema Italiano”. Positano is also the setting for the romantic adventure novel, “Finding Positano, A Love Story” (2010), by William James.
